Our organization works through countywide and statewide operations; we accept volunteers of all faith, however our volunteer work is centered around the Christian faith. We partner with churches, public and private schools, hospitals, and other organizations to host food packaging events. The food itself is donated through individuals and food banks.

so who's involved?

John Doe

John Doe, cofounder of Backpack Blessings, is a church administrator who works to organize food packaging events among his congregations and others. He is passionate about service and educating others about Christianity.

Jane Doe

Jane Doe is a public school counselor and cofounder of Backpack Blessings. Today, she actively participates in local Backpack Blessings events and coordinates with national food banks to grow the program.

But Most Importantly...Our Volunteers!

Backpack Blessings could not operate withour our volunteers; whether from hospitals, schools, churches, or other organizations, volunteers of all ages are enlisted to package and transport food to children in need. See events to volunteer today!

Get Together
First, we get together in churches, hospitals, schools, and public assembly rooms. You can register with the group holding our events up to one weekbefore.Events tend to occur in two shifts: 8AM-10AM or 6PM-8PM to accomade your schedule. Wear practical clothing; gloves and hair masks are not necessary because all of our food items are packaged. Our events are welcome to all ages and all faiths; feel free to bring your family and neighbors!
Start Packing
We start by grouping together common food items, such as bags of chips and cereal boxes, and placing these groups on separate tables. Then, we discuss how to properly pack a ziplock bag full of food items. Finally, our volunteers walk in a circle, filling their bags with the appropriate amount of food items until there is no longer an even number of items remaining. If the time has run out, volunteers can choose to remain to then pack these bags into cardboard boxes.
Distribute Bags
After the main events have concluded, volunteers are still appreciated. A few people are required to pack the boxes into trucks parked outside of the main event location. These trucks will deliver the bags to local schools, where volunteers may also aid staff in unpacking these boxes into the school and distributing the bags to children.

If you would like to participate in our events, please contact one of our staff members!

Backpack Blessings is a remarkable volunteer-based program that addresses the pressing issue of food insecurity among school children. Originally rooted in Christian values, the program has evolved to embrace inclusivity, now welcoming volunteers from all faiths and backgrounds. The primary objective of Backpack Blessings is to alleviate the burden of hunger on school children by packing bags of essential food items that are distributed discreetly to those in need.

Volunteering for Backpack Blessings is not just an opportunity to contribute to a charitable cause; it directly influences the lives of vulnerable children in the community. By participating in this program, volunteers play a vital role in ensuring that no child goes to bed hungry or struggles to concentrate in school due to an empty stomach.

The program provides a platform for individuals to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, transcending religious boundaries and uniting diverse communities in a collective effort to address food insecurity in our schools.

I hope you can join us in our mission,

Founder of Backpack Blessings, Jane Doe
